Any iPod touch that is 8GB is either 2nd Gen or 1st Gen simply put. The 3rd Gen iPod touch comes in 32GB and 64GB. Apple never released a 3rd generation 8GB iPod Touch.
**Note: The MC code simply identifies it as one with OS 3.1 pre-loaded. Therefore having MB or MC doesn't mean much but all 3rd gens are MC but as mentioned before that might not mean you have a 3rd gen cause it might have just been pre-loaded with 3.1.
